Dig a Ditch
The enemy looked BIGGER than their ABILITY to
overcome! 3:9-10
a. They felt trapped by their surroundings.
b. They felt tormented by their actions.
The King failed to BELIEVE that God was greater than the
ANTAGONIZER! 3:11-15
a. How often do we make plans and then get upset when it seems
that we will fail? They asked for God’s help after the fact.
b. Elisha really didn’t want to get involved because He knew that
were out of God’s will.
The BATTLE is will we ACCEPT the Word of God over the
wisdom of man? 3:16-19
a. The Word of God defies the wisdom of man. I am doing this so
that this will happen! God doesn’t need our assistance with His
plan.
b. The Word of God directs the steps of man. Ps. 37:23-24
Obedience to and acceptance of the Word of God is not A
PATH to victory, it is the ONLY PATH! 3:20-24
a. Because they dug ditches, not knowing why, God had a bigger
plan! What they saw as empty holes, God saw as a plan to entice
the enemy. Will you dig a ditch?
b. You will not see the wind or the rain! Faith is the substance of
things hoped for the evidence of things not seen!
Time to dig some ditches!
