Evangelical Report Card

we can’t have a perfect score - Romans 3:23

Goal should be maturing where Christ is the standard - Ephesians 4:13

Things we’re doing best at are things we can either do privately or we perceive a benefit from

1     The same Holy Spirit

a.    Who convicts - John 17:8-15

b.    Who inspired/ authored Scripture – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

c.     All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable Who rose Jesus from the dead, raises us - Romans 8:11 ; Ephesians 2:4–6

2.             The Same Christ

a   Who is seated at the right hand - Mark 16:19 ; Acts 7:55 ; Hebrews 8:1–2

b.    Who is making all things new - 2 Corinthians 5:17–19

c.    Who told us to go - Matthew 28:18–20

o  We are ambassadors of Christ preaching a message of reconciliation - 2 Corinthians 5:20

o  Preaching the Gospel (2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” )

3.The Same God who calls all men to respond

a.    Acts 17:30–31 ; (Eph. 4:18); but now (Mark 1:15 “and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” )

§ time of ignorance (Eph. 4:18); but now (Mark 1:15 “and

saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and

believe in the gospel.”” )

§ 2 Pet. 3:9= give

ample time to repent

1.    Ezekiel 18:32

b.   1 Timothy 2:4–6

Theologians suggest that Jonah is the only prophet that “had it easy”/ experienced prosperity (ie, didn’t call Israel to repent)

How similar is the American church today

Like Jonah, we have been called to go and we too have rebelled

·      Jonah 4:1-3
